Weekend Special – Sunshine but Chilly

The weather gurus are promising a sunny but cool weekend. Perfect weather for a trip to a Pick-Your-Own Orchard, a stroll through a Craft Fair or hike up Mount Kearsarge.

Followed, of course, by a lovely early autumn dinner! Enjoy a comfy, casual kitchen party with family and friends.

To start: Let everyone gather in the kitchen and warm up with Mulled Cider or sip a glass of wine. Relax and nibble on flatbread crackers or crisp veggies with Tapenade or Feta Walnut Spread while a chicken happily roasts in the oven.

The Main Event: With cool weather, Roast Chicken is a wonderful choice.
Eggplants are in season and zucchini are plentiful. Dress up your dinner with Grilled Ratatouille Stacks. (If you don’t want to grill outside in the cold and dark, you can roast the vegetables in the oven.) Add some Lemon Roasted Potatoes or Couscous with (or without) Dried Fruit but don’t skip the Pine Nuts and dinner is done.

For a Sweet Finish: Apples of course! It doesn’t matter if you picked them yourself or picked them up at the Farmer’s Market – ‘tis the season for apples. A Rustic Apple Tart is a wonderful choice. Unless you prefer something a bit more hearty like Apple Crisp or Apple Bread Pudding.

Have a wonderful weekend! Bon Appétit!
