Weekend Special – Girls’ Night Out with a Not-a-Super-Bowl Party

If you are looking for a great Super Bowl Menu … Click Here!.

Just because it’s the Super Bowl, it doesn’t make you a football fan. Even if the home team is on the field. While the number of female football fans has grown by leaps and bounds, there are still a few holdouts. I suppose there may be a few men who don’t like football either but I’m not sure they are ready to own up to it yet.

So ladies, what are your plans for Super Bowl Sunday? Will you tough it out in a crowded room of rowdy friends and fans? Hide in a quiet corner of the house as far from that cinema screen your hubs or beau calls a television? Haunt an empty Starbucks?

Or gather like-minded nonfans for a Not-a-Super-Bowl Party? Bring your girlfriends together for mani-pedis, a chick flick marathon or a good gab.

Girls love to nibble so here are a few ideas for a fabulous and delicious tapas party!

First, the quick and easy. Find some good artisanal sausage and/or serrano ham at your favorite gourmet shop or supermarket. Slice it thin and serve it with salty bites of Manchego cheese and Spicy Olives.

Next, dress it up a bit with about Artichoke Leaves with Shrimp or Mediterranean Shrimp. Crostini with Caponata and Spanakopita Triangles will add a homey, elegant touch.

Soup shots will be a warm and welcoming addition to the party. Serve Roasted Carrot or Wild Mushroom Soup in tiny cups. Finally, add a big platter of veggies and Red Pepper Dip or Lemon-Basil Aioli.

Top it all off with a sweet treat. Mini Lemon Cupcakes or tiny glasses of Chocolate Mousse sounds lovely.

Have a great party and bon appétit!
