The thermometer was hovering around forty this morning. The sky is a brilliant blue. It’s September in New Hampshire. The nights are cool and you can count every star. “Good sleeping weather!” we crow with delight.
It is a perfect weekend to get together with friends and family for an afternoon hike or game of golf or tennis. No reason to end there, follow the fun with a delicious dinner.
Not sure what to cook? Here are a few ideas:
Start with a refreshing cocktail; a Dark & Stormy or a mug of Mulled Cider (with or without a shot of rum or calvados) if you’re feeling chilly. Snack on Grilled Caponata with wedges of fresh, red bell pepper and thin slices of toasted ciabatta.
Moving on to the main course, what could be cozier than a hearty soup or chowder? With both in season and plentiful, what could be better than Lobster-Corn Chowder? If you are not a lobster lover, you could always go for my Corn-Chicken Chowder or a hearty Sausage, Kale & Potato Soup.
Have a wonderful weekend and bon appétit!
