There’s Change in the Air for the Weekend

kayaking_01It’s been hot, hot, hot this week in New Hampshire. And HUMID. Relief is already on the way for a pleasant weekend. A cool breeze is blowing through my home office window putting me in the mood for kayaking on Pleasant Lake, a hike or work in the garden. And at the end of the day … a great dinner with family and friends. if you are looking for some inspiration in the kitchen, here are a few ideas:

Take it easy with a local microbrew or a glass of your favorite wine. The local corn if fantastic and the tomatoes are divine so why not whip up a batch of my a Grilled Corn, Black Bean & Avocado Salsa.

When you are ready to move to the table … start with great salad. You may be able to find a few local blueberries. If luck is with you, give my Blueberry, Green Bean & Goat Cheese Salad. Otherwise, Crunchy Salad with Apples & Grapes sounds good.

Moving on to the main course, how about some great pasta? With cool evenings (and a chance of showers), pasta sounds comfy and cozy. Orecchiette with Sausage, Mushrooms & Radicchio sounds both fall-ish and delicious. Not convinced? How about Linguine with Sundried Tomato Pesto & Roasted Eggplant or Ravioli with Sage Pesto.
And for dessert? I’ve got a jar of Death by Chocolate Sauce in my refrigerator. What about you? For an easy dessert, a scoop of coffee ice cream in a pretty glass with a dollop of rich and chocolaty sauce sounds pretty darn good.

Have a wonderful weekend and bon appétit!
