We’re smack in the middle of Take a Child Outside Week. Take advantage of the great weather and have some fun outside this weekend with your kids or grandkids. Have a great time in the sunshine; hiking, biking or maybe a chilly, late season swim. Continue the fun with a family night at home. (Feel free to include a few of your favorite families from the neighborhood.)
If you are looking for some inspiration for your family night menu, here are a few ideas:
Moving on to the main course, kids love pasta … and corn and tomatoes. I’m thinking my Fettuccine with Fresh Corn & Tomato will be a favorite of adults and kids alike.
And for dessert? How about make-your-own sundaes? Get a few pints (or quarts) of your favorite flavors and a great sauce or two. Death by Chocolate Sauce and Caramel Sauce sounds good to me. Don’t forget to add a couple (or more) tasty sprinkles … jimmies, nuts and chopped candies work for me.
Finish the evening outdoors under the stars. Bundle everyone up in sweaters and fleece, pass out mugs of Hot Mulled Cider or tiny cups of Hot White Chocolate and stretch out on the deck. While you are out there, help the children identify constellations and count shooting stars.
Have a great weekend outdoors with the kids and bon appétit!
