Fall Weekend Special

pumpkins_mumsThe foliage is still lovely and blue skies are promised for the weekend. It’s a good time for a hike, a long bike ride or maybe a picnic on the beach. However you spend the day, end it with good friends and good food.

Even if the days are warm, it’s chilly once the sun starts to set. Gather a few friends around the fire to relax and enjoy a delicious dinner:

Sip a glass of wine and nibble tasty crostini or bruschetta to start. While the possibilities are endless, I think Mushroom or Goat Cheese with Roasted Tomatoes and Olives sound pretty good.

Stay comfy and cozy in front of the fire with mugs of soup. Think fall flavors with Butternut Squash Soup or Curried Eggplant Soup. Make plenty, you’ll want the leftovers for lunch on Sunday.

Moving on to the main course, a hearty stew is just the thing. My Carbonnade à la Flamande is a favorite and great for entertaining. Then again, Roast Pork with Apples & Onions is wonderful this time of year.

And for dessert? Who doesn’t love a cookie? Move the party back to the fireplace, serve a round of coffee or tea and munch of some delicious cookies. I’d go with Cherry-Pistachio Biscotti or Root ‘n’ Tooty Good ‘n’ Fruity Oatmeal Cookies?

Have a great weekend and bon appétit!
