Yes Indeed, It’s a Late Fall Weekend in New Hampshire Special

table_set_for_dinner_01In New Hampshire we go from early fall to fall to late fall in a matter of days. This is in sharp contrast to winter which goes on and on for months. There is early winter, it comes around Halloween. It’s followed by winter that lasts until March. Then there is still winter. And finally, we end the season with for the love of God, will winter ever end. By then we’re all grateful for the few days of spring followed by a few weeks of summer.

But anyway … looking out my window, I’m seeing lots of clouds and bare trees. It is the perfect time to invite friends around to add some sparkle to what might otherwise be a dull evening! Here are a few ideas:

Start by the fire with a glass of wine and something to nibble. Perhaps you’ve been thinking of trying my Flatbread with Mushrooms, Caramelized Onions & Spinach. Now is as good a time as any! White Bean Hummus or Roasted Red Pepper Dip with fresh veggies and pita chips also sound pretty good.

When you are ready, move to the table. For starters, enjoy a delicious Soupe de Poisson Provençal. Make plenty, you’ll want to enjoy any extra for lunch the next day!

Moving on to the main course, a Roast Chicken is both easy and great for entertaining. Serve the chicken with a homey Savory Bread Pudding filled with roasted butternut squash, Swiss chard, sausage and goat cheese. It’s the stuffing and the veggies all in one!

And for dessert? Wow your guests with Ginger Crème Brûlée or Maple Mousse with Apple Compote. These are two fantabulous desserts!

Have a great weekend and bon appétit!
