Intimate dinner or a cast of thousands … how are you spending New Year’s Eve? Maybe friends and family are flocking to your house for the party or you’re headed out. Perhaps you’re taking on the entire meal, the proverbial soup-to-nuts. Or could it be that a potluck is more your style? Whether you need help with the entire feast or just a piece of it, I’m happy to help.
Here are a few ideas!
Want something a little special to nibble before dinner? Everyone likes scrimp and they’ll love my Roasted Shrimp with Tarragon Aioli. Or give my Zucchini Pancakes with Tapenade or Spanakopita Triangles a try. Mini cups of soup would be tasty on a cold night, try my Roasted Butternut Squash Soup unless you’d prefer Wild Mushroom Soup.
How about a salad? Try my Radicchio, Fennel, and Arugula Salad, Roasted Beets with Goat Cheese Salad or Roasted Cauliflower, Radicchio & Arugula Salad. Any and all will be delicious and look beautiful on a buffet table.
On to the main course … are you thinking comfy and casual for New Year’s Eve? For a big crowd, a cozy stew is perfect. How about … Fish Stew Provençal, Carbonnade á la Flamande (Beer Braised Beef & Onions) or Moroccan Chicken with Green Olives & Preserved Lemon?
Serve the Fish Stew with a warm loaf of your favorite crusty bread. The Carbonnade is delicious with Smashed Potatoes and Couscous with Dried Fruit and Pine Nuts will be perfect with the Moroccan Chicken.
And if you’re going out and need a gift for your host? After a busy day preparing for a party, your host will love a lazy morning. Bring along a dozen of my Very Ginger Gingerbread Muffins to enjoy on New Year’s morning.
Have a Happy New Year celebration with family and friends and bon appétit!
