Early Summer Celebration Special

fireworks_12Do you have something special to celebrate this weekend? My niece graduates from high school tomorrow night. However, she’ll spend the weekend celebrating with her friends. Her graduation doo for family and friends will come later in the summer.

Whether you have a big celebration this weekend or later in the summer, here are a few ideas for a fun and festive party for family and friends:

Kick off the party with some tasty apps … that’s appetizers not software for your phone or PC. Here’s the deal; if I’ve got both kids and adults coming over, I always or at least almost always make my Guacamole and Simple Salsa. For something a little more special, try my Flatbread with Mushrooms, Caramelized Onions & Spinach, Spanish Stuffed Mushrooms or Warm Gorgonzola with Caramelized Onions & Walnuts.

So, what about the main course? Like salt and pepper, milk and honey and R and R, summer and grilling just seem to go together. My Grilled Pork Tenderloin or Spicy Grilled Chicken are great party dishes. You’ll want to add a few salads. Couscous Salad with Grilled Vegetables is a great mix of pasta and veggies. Add some greens with Lemony Kale & Radicchio Salad or a Crunchy Slaw with Cilantro, Mint and Peanuts. Yum!

And finally, dessert! Rhubarb is in season, you might like to bake a Rhubarb Crumb Cake or Ginger Shortcakes with Rhubarb Compote. However, if only chocolate will do … try my Flourless Chocolate Cake.

Have fun and bon appétit!

What are you up to this weekend? I’d love to hear from you! Let’s get a conversation going.
